In this episode of the Farmland Energy Legal Podcast, we are joined by Jasmine Gunning, a third-year law student at Penn State Law and a research assistant at the Center for Agricultural and Shale Law. Jasmine discusses dust pollution in rural Pennsylvania and its impact on the general public and on the agricultural field. She discusses different practical solutions to tackle the road dust problem including the use of a byproduct of the oil and gas industry — brine. Jasmine and Chloe discuss the pros and cons of spreading brine on rural Pennsylvania roads, as well as state regulations on the use of brine as a dust suppressant.
